ANNA NEZHNAYA vs. QUELISH

QUELISH
Berlin-based artist Quelish studied at the Kunsthochschule Berlin-Weißensee and the Académie des beaux-arts de Paris. The high recognition factor of her aesthetic trademark is grounded in the eclectic decorum that accompanies her dystopian narratives: candyesque color palettes fused with the kind of 90s nostalgia that is inherent to the use of Microsoft Paint. Always shifting between post-apocalyptical sceneries and utopian phantasies, Quelish broaches topics like consumerism, humanity’s toxic impact on nature, or inter-human relations in the post-digital era and the alienation that comes with it. Her body of work ranging from performances, installations, and paintings to computer-generated images is located at the intersection of critical awareness and sweet pink dreams.
On the occasion of »0010«‘s first opening, we will be able to experience an audio-visual performance wrapped up into a multidisciplinary installation.

ANNA NEZHNAYA
Although drawing from a rather classical set of techniques due to having graduated and specialized in painting and graphic arts, the Berlin-based artist from Moscow Anna Nezhnaya has never failed to explore and employ new media for conceptual purposes in order to make the idea to be conveyed her highest priority. Ranging from offline live-painting performances to her proximate light objects and digital drawings, Nezhnaya manages to always drive attention to topics from various angles and thus encourages the recipient’s individual epistemological ways through a rather symbolic though certain approach.
The artist‘s installation for »0010« features some of her most recent works and reflects on the effects of forced isolation in post social media society.
